The information is present

If you want to know your own personal signals for how do I make good decisions, try this experiment. Think of something that you really do not like.

For example, filling in tax forms, muddy footprints in the house, very loud noises, something that you do not like. When you think about this thing, how is it that you know that you do not like it? What are you aware of in your body as a sensation that lets you know you do not like it?

Do you have an image in your mind's eye of this particular thing? If you were to point to it, where would you point? Just notice the location in space of this picture and whether it is black and white or colour, a movie or a slide, how big it is and so on. And when you talk to yourself about not liking this thing, notice where the voice inside originates from? Notice also the tonality and the rate of speech.

Now think of something that you really do enjoy. Something that gives you a lot of pleasure, that is pleasing to you to spend time at. This will generate different sensations in your body. Notice for yourself where they are and what the sensations are. When you visualise the thing in your mind's eye the picture will typically be in a different place. Notice the qualities of the picture. And when you talk to yourself about this thing that you really like, this voice will be different from the last one. It may be different tonality, different volume, different speed and it may even originate from a different location.

This is how your system holds things that it likes and dislikes. Things that are a aligned with it and things that are not. There will also be a separate set of signals and information about things that are neutral, things about which you don't know.
